#WhyICode: Tiffany Major Uses Online Resources to Keep Her Skills Current

August 18, 2017

I am located in Baton Rouge, LA. I have a Bachelors in Informatics and I am currently pursuing an MBA in Entrepreneurship & Small Business.

My love for technology started at a young age while playing The Sims Game with my brother for hours in a day. During my undergrad years in college, I changed my major about three times before sticking with Informatics. Informatics is a fuse between Computer Science and Business which was a perfect fit for me because I love the tech side and also love the business side as well. Since graduating, I've continued to learn new skills, gain more knowledge, and get certified. I think it is very important to continue to learn no matter at what age. I spend hours Googling and searching Youtube to help me learn new skills or redefine a skill that I've learned previously but may not remember the details. I've learned a number of skills through the internet like Adobe Creative Suite, Javascript, coding a website through a server and so much more. Coding is revolutionary. It continues to change through updates and new software creations. My reason for coding is to stay current with my skills and knowledge of the technology world. My reason is to be a role model for my daughters to show them that you can learn anything with the resources at your fingertips (Google). The resources are there you just have to have the want to learn and desire to pursue. The internet is a big learning tool and can be used to learn anything from cooking to coding your first mobile app. It is all about how you utilize the tool. #WhyICode
